Information We Collect

We only collect information you choose to give us. When you submit one of our forms (contact, volunteer, membership, or newsletter) we collect the details you enter, which may include your name, email address, phone number, company or organization, and your message. If you donate, buy from our shop or pay for a membership, your payment details go directly to our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store your full card or bank account number. Like every website, our server also receives the standard technical information your browser sends automatically, such as your IP address and browser type. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to:

• Respond to your inquiries and follow up on volunteer, partnership, and program requests.
• Send you updates, event announcements, and newsletters you have asked to receive.
• Operate, maintain, and improve our programs and this website.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

Cookies

We use only the cookies the site needs to work. Our web host sets a short-lived cookie that speeds up page delivery. If you sign in, WordPress keeps you signed in with its own cookies, and if you use the shop, WooCommerce keeps your cart and the items you recently viewed in cookies. On our donation form, the membership checkout and in the shop (product pages, cart and checkout), our payment processor Stripe sets cookies to prevent fraud and to process your payment securely; when you pay, its fraud check can load hCaptcha, which sets a short-lived security cookie (see Stripe’s privacy policy). We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. Most web browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings; doing so may stop the donation form, the shop or sign-in from working. By using aftershockfam.org you consent to the use of cookies in accordance with this policy.

Your Choices & Rights

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send. You may also ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To make any request, email us at info@aftershockfam.org.

Children’s Privacy

Because many of our programs serve young people, we take children’s privacy seriously. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental or guardian consent. If you believe a child has provided us information without consent, contact us and we will delete it.

Purchases & Payments

When you buy from our shop we collect your name, email, billing and shipping address and order details so we can fulfill and support your order; the order record is kept on our website. Shop orders are paid by card. Donations can be paid by card or Cash App Pay, and memberships by card, US bank account, Cash App Pay or Link (Stripe’s saved-checkout service). Whichever you choose, your payment details go directly to our payment processor, Stripe, and are never stored on our servers. If you pay with Cash App Pay, Cash App (Block, Inc.) also processes that payment under its own privacy policy; Link saves your details with Stripe only if you ask it to; and to pay by US bank account, Stripe may ask you to connect or verify your bank account. We keep order and donation records for as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Who We Share Information With

We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with the services that run this website for us: Stripe for payments (and Cash App, if you pay with it), Google Workspace for our email, and our web host. Each uses it only to provide that service to us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page. Your continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
